Protests erupt outside Kasba Police station as 3 arrested in alleged Kolkata college gang rape
Dilip Ghosh, speaking at Eko Park on Sunday morning, stated that the process of filing nomination papers has not yet gained momentum and that the BJP is responsible for the current situation. He emphasized that nominations are still ongoing for more than half of the seats.
Dilip Ghosh further predicted a significant upsurge in agitation from Monday onwards, challenging the authorities' ability to contain it. He suggested that Mamata Banerjee desires a major disruption in order to secure victory. Instances of unrest during the submission of nomination papers have been documented in various locations, including Murshidabad, Katwa, and Asansol. Additionally, firearms were seized from a Trinamool leader in Domkal. Dilip Ghosh criticized the state administration in light of these incidents.
Furthermore, Dilip Ghosh highlighted an attack on IPS Nazrul Islam, who had come to vote. He emphasized that those in power exert their strength, asserting that an environment of fear and intimidation is being created by the Trinamool Congress in every corner of Bengal to deter people from nominating. However, he expressed confidence that the BJP's nominations will not be thwarted.
In addition to the clashes between political parties, government officials were also affected by the violence and vandalism on Saturday. Their alleged offense was providing nomination forms to Indian Secular Front (ISF) personnel. Dilip Ghosh, the All India Vice President of the BJP, condemned these acts and criticized district leaders, accusing them of having a criminal background due to their prior affiliations with the Communist Party of India (Marxist). He argued that such incidents were to be expected as a result.
Trinamool Congress refuted all of Dilip Ghosh's allegations, asserting that the BJP is deliberately attempting to incite unrest throughout the state ahead of the elections.
